1. Who we are
Option B is a Gen-Z publication covering Asian digital culture and technology, operated by independent publishers. Our website address is https://optionb.biz. For privacy inquiries, contact [email protected].
2. What data we collect
We collect minimal data, limited to what is necessary to operate the newsletter and measure site performance:
- Email address — when you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address in our mailing list provider.
- Analytics data — we use Google Analytics to understand which pages receive traffic. This collects anonymized data including page views, referrer URLs, browser type, device type, and approximate geographic location (country/city level). No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.
- Ad data — we use Google AdSense to serve advertisements. Google may use cookies and device identifiers to show personalized or non-personalized ads. See Section 4 for details.
We do not collect or store names, phone numbers, IP addresses, or any other personal identifiers beyond what is listed above.
3. How we use your data
- Email — solely to send the Option B newsletter and occasional updates about the publication. We never sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties.
- Analytics — to understand content performance and audience growth in aggregate. No individual user tracking.
4. Third-party services
Our site integrates the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
- Google AdSense — Privacy Policy. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on prior visits. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.
- Google Analytics — Privacy Policy. You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Newsletter service — we use an email marketing platform to manage subscriptions. The specific provider will be listed here upon integration. All newsletter providers we consider are GDPR-compliant and offer one-click unsubscribe.
5. Cookies
Our site uses minimal cookies:
- Essential cookies — none. Our site functions without requiring authentication or session cookies for visitors.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics (_ga, _gid) to distinguish users. These are first-party cookies that expire after 2 years and 24 hours respectively.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense to track ad performance and, for users in regions where it applies, personalize ads.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California, etc.), you may have the right to:
- Request access to any personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of that data
- Object to or restrict processing of your data
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time (newsletter: one-click unsubscribe in every email)

7. Data retention
Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained for 26 months and then automatically deleted (Google Analytics default). We do not maintain any separate internal database of user information.
8. Children's privacy
Option B is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, contact us immediately.
9. Changes to this policy
We will update this page and note the effective date when changes occur. Material changes may be announced via the newsletter. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
